Local Information

Ventnor is a picturesque coastal town on the south coast of the Isle of Wight. It is nestled below St Boniface Down and has it's own unique micro climate, often giving glorious summers and a slightly more mild Winter, Spring and Autumn than the rest of the country.

The town has a number of charming , individual shops including a number of antique shops and boutiques as well as a supermarket, post office and Boots the chemist. It has an air of nostalgia adding to it's relaxing pace of life.

There are many cosy pubs and award winning restaurants, all within walking distance of the property. Take your pick from luxurious hotel restaurants, contemporary bistros and traditional waterside pubs. Details of which can be found in your room or provided by email prior to your arrival.

There are many lovely beaches with safe swimming in the surrounding area, 3 of which are a short walk away and many others only slightly further afield. There are a large choice of watersports activities close to hand including sailing, wind surfing, surfing and diving and many other activities incuding golf, cycling (there is a good network of cycle paths covering the whole of the Island), hand & paragliding to name but a few.

Ventnor Botanical Gardens is a pituresque 15 minute walk from the property, where you can see stunning sub tropical plants and see our own, mini Eden project.

The Island and Ventnor and surrounding areas in particular is prime walking country. Ocean View House is situated with direct access to the downs and all the coastal walks with many areas designated as areas of outstanding natural beauty.

Ocean View House is also well placed for all Island attractions including The Needles, Cowes, round the Island yacht race, both music festivals, the Ventnor jazz festival and much more. You can travel around the Island and get the most amazing views on the Islands double decker buses for which daily, weekly & monthly rover tickets can be purchased. A good way to visit all the Islands Pubs!

You can see all of our beautiful coastline by joining the 'free spirit' crew onboard a 8.5m Cheetah Catamaran from Ventnor Haven. Choose between coastline tours and fishing trips. An experience not to be missed!
